Silver Point is an centuries old technique it is the art of drawing with a Silver rod or wire. I draw on watercolour paper that has a prepared surface to take the silver. This Medium requires precise drawing skills once the mark has been made it cannot be removed Silverpoint drawings are made by drawing a silver wire across a prepared surface and is the forerunner of the pencil,actually you can use lead, copper, gold but silver is the most common choice. It was used in the Renaissance by the great artists like Leonardo Da Vinci, Raphael, Durer, Michelangelo. In the late sixteenth century it went out of fashion with the discovery of Graphite in Cumbria England.
